“AMERICAN CORPORATE IDENTITY 2006” RECOGNIZES AND PUBLISHES FIVE LOGOS CREATED BY ALEXDESIGN

Carmel, Indiana March 4 A prestigious competition for corporate identity programs has selected five logo designs from Carmel-based AlexDesign LLC for publication in its 21st annual, which receives distribution in more than 60 countries.

AlexDesign graphic designer Alexandra Leonova submitted five logo designs to this year’s competition, and recently received notification that all five were being included in the highly respected showcase for corporate identity. American Corporate Identity is the only annual competition that focuses exclusively on the best corporate identity work throughout the nation.

Winners in previous competitions have included widely recognized efforts for large companies such as AT&T and FedEx, as well as corporate identity programs for small companies. The publishers normally select fewer than a thousand of the many entries they receive for publication in the annual.

One of the winning logos was a pro bono project for the Noblesville Checkers, an independent girls’ lacrosse team from Noblesville, Indiana. Leonova combined a shield with a stylized image of a girl ready to pass a ball with her crosse (the stick used by lacrosse players), checkered flags, and the black and gold used by Noblesville’s high school teams. Although the team may be new, the design’s combination of familiar and contemporary elements imparts a sense of tradition to logo and the team’s uniforms. Coach Mark Schreiber said that the logo was well-received by the team. “They work incredibly hard to master the most difficult sport I know, and they deserve a great image,” he says. “This logo gives us something to wear proudly.”

A logo for Tmax Consulting, an Indianapolis technology consulting company, was also selected. Challenged to redesign the firm’s logo to reflect its technology focus and provide flexibility for a variety of applications, Leonova created a custom font and inserted a swoosh line that travels up through the letter X, suggesting a positive trend on a business chart that reinforces the company’s desire to provide “Maximum Results.”

“We were very pleased with the logo designs,” Tmax Managing Consultant Rod Evans told Leonova. “Your designs were creative, you were very accommodating and flexible, you met every deadline and you exceeded our expectations. We recommend you to everyone!”

The approach for Accufacts, a firm based in New York and Florida that provides background checks of prospective employees, also reflects the company’s business. “The first letter of the logo includes a check mark symbol swoosh line, symbolizing the company’s role in providing background checks,” explains Leonova. “And, by using medium and bold fonts, we indicate that the company is stable and is growing.”

For Bloomington, Indiana-based church architecture and construction firm International Development Corporation, Leonova replaced the company’s longtime logo with a bold, colorful symbol that commands attention and separates the company from its competitors.

The fifth logo was created for Acturial Insurance Management, a Fishers, Indiana-based firm.
